Choosing ministers, once a solemn affair akin to knighting a king, has devolved into a process reminiscent of selecting a lead actor for a community theatre production—favouring tap-dancing skills over spiritual depth. It’s akin to electing a prom king instead of a spiritual shepherd.

Intriguingly, church boards have granted unwarranted authority to novices, akin to ducklings attempting to lead a group of swans—a cacophony of noise with little coherence. This shift has trivialised sacred doctrines, akin to substituting flour with marshmallows in baking—a sugary but insubstantial endeavour.

Consequently, the church loses its spiritual sparkle, resembling a birthday party bereft of cake—fun but lacking substance. However, hope remains in appointing leaders embodying the wisdom of “Yoda” over the fickleness of a “yo-yo,” enabling the church to reclaim its spiritual mojo and spread love and grace.
